Stockdale and Lyall Masonry offer a comprehensive range of stone masonry services around Scotland. We are experienced in the repair, maintenance and conservation of historic buildings, monuments and period properties. We blend traditional knowledge and skills with modern technology to provide quality craftsmanship that is cost effective and will stand the test of time.
Stockdale and Lyall Masonry was founded by two time served stonemasons Andrew Stockdale and Derrick Lyall.
We learned and honed our trade working on the rich heritage of stone buildings in Edinburgh and the surrounding Lothians, taking on projects such as the restoration of the historic Middleton House and the Old Manse Tranent as well as new-build steading conversions such as Auchendinny Mains Farm and the Milton Bridge Complex. We were also contracted by Historic Scotland to undertake the sensitive conservation and re-erection of the Ancient Peekie in Boarhills Fife.
We are passionate about our work and find constant inspiration in the variety and quality of old masonry that is to be seen in Scotland, from the horizon stretching dykes of our rural landscape to an architectural detail on an Edinburgh church.
Though open minded experience we have gained a broad understanding of the Scottish stone masonry trade and are dedicated to providing the highest standards, working closely with our clients to create work that is both beautiful to look at and durable.
We consider Scottish stonemasonry to be an integral part of our heritage and all repair work, extensions or alterations should be undertaken with respect and sensitivity to the original fabric of a building.
In short we believe in giving history a future.
